Movie worker turned star to rescue animals and handler

- CHRIS MCMAHON

THE actions of Katherine Brock saved an animal handler and two donkeys from certain injury, after stopping a driver- less truck from crashing into them.

Ms Brock was working on the set of a movie on the Gold Coast when she saw the truck rolling towards the handlers and the donkeys. The truck was picking up speeding, when Ms Brock ran into the path of the oncoming vehicle, without showing any concern for her own safety.

She positioned herself inbetween the vehicle and the handler with her donkeys, using all her strength to push against the truck, stopping it from hitting the pair.

The car hit Ms Brock, dragging her an unknown distance before pinning her underneath.

It took a number of people lift the vehicle off her and to she sustained serious, but nonlife threatening injuries.

Ms Brock has received a Commendation for Brave Conduct for her courageous actions that day.
