Wall funds face block

A DEMOCRAT-controlled congressional committee has challenged the Pentagon’s plan to divert $1 billion to help build President Donald Trump’s wall along the southern border with Mexico.

Less than a day after the Pentagon authorised the move, the House Armed Services Committee said it was not permitted.

It was the newest challenge to Mr Trump’s declaration of a “national emergency” at the border to obtain more than $5 billion to build a wall to keep out immigrants, after Congress denied him funds.
