Former Sun joins AFLQ pathways
FORMER Gold Coast AFL player Josh Hall is poised to help guide Queensland’s top under-age female players to the AFLW after joining the State Female Academy Program’s coaching department.
Hall is the new high performance manager of the AFLQ’s women’s academy who will prepare the team for the under-18 AFL Women’s National Championships, to be held on the Gold Coast later this year.
“I’ll be helping with the strength and conditioning and teaching the girls about building elite habits and being a bit of a mentor,” Hall said.
“We assist with their wellbeing and athlete loading. Most of the girls play different sports so it’s about trying to manage the loads they have through the week.”
Hall was on the Suns AFL list between 2012 and 2015 and then spent some time with NRL club Penrith Panthers.
The 28-year-old, who is also an assistant coach of the Suns under-18 women’s team, has previously helped coach through the Suns academy in his home city of Townsville and currently plays for NEAFL club Southport Sharks.
“I have always had a passion for the high-performance stuff and having that experience at the elite level, I enjoy helping develop athletes from a young age,” Hall said.
