A WALK WITH A BIG VIEW

- ANCHORAGE BOARDWALK

FOR an excellent excuse to head south for the day, take a trip to the brand new Anchorage Boardwalk.

Located at Tweed Heads, this is the perfect place for those wanting to have a reasonably short, easy walk and with beautiful views. Definitely my type of walk. And it’s really the sort of place that makes you appreciate the area we live in.

You can easily grab a coffee in the morning before making your way down to the little nature strip at Keith Curran Reserve.

Alternatively, it would also be a beautiful spot in the afternoon. On one side of the boardwalk, you’ll hug mangroves teeming with microscopic life, little crabs and birds.

On the other, you’ll find Terranora Creek snaking its way down to the ocean.

You’ll spot trawlers waiting in the bays – or even find them coming back from a day out at sea.

The new boardwalk is 245m long and was recently given a revamp after years of being closed.

In fact, it only reopened just a couple of weeks ago.

The revamp also means that not only will it last another 50 years, but it’s 1.8m wide and wheelchair and mobility access friendly.
