Suns need better security: Miller

-

TOUK Miller says Gold Coast’s ambitions to make Metricon Stadium a more protected and sacred ground will begin with improved ball security and pressure in the middle of the ground.

Gold Coast got on top of St Kilda early last round through their ability to win the ball at the source through the centre clearances but it wavered and ultimately opened the door for the Saints to sneak a one-point win at Marvel Stadium.

Miller (pictured) has called on his midfield counterparts to be relentless in their pursuit of the football on Sunday against Fremantle as they search for their first win of 2019.

“They’re coming to our home deck and we want to make sure this is something that is a bit more sacred, something we can protect and play good footy at,” Miller said.

“We started well in the first quarter against St Kilda but we let ourselves down a bit in the second.

“Our pressure around the ball probably slacked off especially. We ended up six-plus in first possessions which shows we are getting our hands to it but our ball security wasn’t there.”
