Barty’s on top

ASH Barty has won the Miami Open, declaring with it that she is a frontline contender at the three fast-court Grand Slam events.

But she said the win was not as momentous for her as a Fed Cup doubles victory for Australia in Canberra in February last year, when she sent her friend and regular doubles partner Casey Dellacqua into retirement on a winning note.

Barty beat world No.7 Karolina Pliskova 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 to win.
