LABRADOR Oztag have added two more Queensland champion teams to their already brimming rabbit warren after dominating at the senior state cup.

Labrador Oztag venue manager Angie Dent said the most recent championships were the biggest in the club’s history.

“This year we had a club record of 15 senior teams which included our inaugural masters ladies 35-plus team for the launch of this new division in 2019,” she said.

“Our Labrador Rabbits had five teams make the grand final with two teams taking out the championship.”

The club’s open women and open mixed team brought home gold medals while the under-18 boys, masters women and senior mixed sides were runners-up.

Dent said that after taking an open women’s team to the state tournament for the past six years, the club was elated to finally bring home a state title.

“We have been competitively chasing this title for the past three years,” she said.

Four Rabbits – Tapita Peters (senior mixed), Richard Hill (senior mixed), Dion Samuela (under-18 boys) and Tessa Pennefather (open mixed) – won MVP awards.

Miami won the open men’s division, meaning Coast sides took out all three open events.

Miami’s under-16 boys went back to back while their under-16 girls won their sixth title in a row.

All clubs will now turn their attention towards the Tri Series set to be held on the Sunshine Coast in June.
