BIKIES Drugs, guns the targets

MORE than $152 million will be spent targeting bikies, the Federal Budget has revealed.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) will lead the National Strategy to Fight Transnational, Serious and Organised Crime, a crackdown on outlaw motorcycle gangs in a bid to reduce the supply of illegal drugs and firearms.

The funding, to be spread across forward estimates, will be used to “strengthen law enforcement efforts’’.

“In 2019–20, the AFP will continue efforts to create a hostile environment for Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs in Australia and offshore,” Department of Home Affairs Budget papers revealed.
