$328m to help women in need
EMERGENCY housing for women escaping violence and more support services will be funded under a $328 million strategy outlined in the Federal Budget.
The action plan to reduce violence against women and children includes $64 million over two years to ensure the 1800 RESPECT hotline can meet forecast increases in demand and update its online services.
There is also $75.4 million for emergency accommodation and $110.9 million for domestic and family violence support services. Specific needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people affected by violence will be addressed with $35 million for support and practical intervention programs.
