BILL Shorten’s electric car plan – did he mention that if just one in five households had an electric car the neighbourhood electricity transformers and substations would need further upgrades, beyond those already done to accommodate household solar? Who pays for that? Everyone does. What a stupid idea. Sparky

JW and we thank God that the LNP is well right of centre. Green lefties require a counterbalance. DJB.

I can’t believe I almost let my 17 yr old daughter catch the train from Nerang to Coomera TAFE and return by herself. After deciding to accompany her myself and witnessing high school gangs (would-be rappers etc.), fights and absolutely no security on government rail. I am now committed to travel with my daughter every day to protect her from local school roughians. Not impressed!

Electric cars must be part of the future but perhaps only when efficient and cost effective batteries are developed to store solar panel power generated both commercially and in households. Would it be that such batteries already exist but are suppressed by powerful business interests selling alternative sources of power?

is heating up” –

sounds scary but it’s actually just “adjustments” to the past temperature record, same as BOM does here. That’s the only reason Canadian “global warming” happens “at twice the rate of the rest of the world”. Meanwhile, Canada is still covered in record snow and gripped by record cold. Obviously we still haven’t reached peak stupid. Higgs

How quickly Australians forget the cash splash with Rudd and Gillard, if you want others to support you, make sure there’s plenty of money being generated to cover you.

When will the unions and the Labor Party realise that putting up the wages does not improve general living as everything else goes up – talk about a dog chasing its tail. Woof woof

Hey Noel. At least the Warriors have won a game and are not at the bottom of the ladder like your Titans are. Now who’s not up to standard? JWH

Tony Abbott is a dinosaur and will lose his seat of Warringah this upcoming election. You can take that to the bank!

PH. Re Shell fuel prices – empty forecourt at new Benowa, 15 cents dearer there!

The number of poker machines on the Gold Coast is not increasing as such, it’s just that the number of machines that have been allocated for the Coast has not yet been reached. Barney

Amazing how this federal government spends only what is necessary to save up and spend furiously at election time, not fake media. But fake government. JJ

I cannot believe the complainers re planes coming over Surfers, Broadbeach & Miami etc. I wish the same people would create an uproar over the deafening noise of motor bikes & cars that we put up with both day & night, instead of the few planes, which is nowhere near as annoying or loud! I live at Miami, directly under the flight path & it’s certainly not the planes that annoy me! LK

I don’t believe what I’m hearing. Pubs and clubs are not allowed to offer a free drink or two to pokie players yet the Star casino at Broadbeach can fly in an Asian high roller at their own expense, give him 200k to start gambling with and goodness knows what other privileges that we will never read about. Star, you deserve your loss. Andrew Wilkie needs to be all over this. Should be the same rules for every gambling house. Geoffrey.

Trump, we go on about him, but take a look at the British parliament and Brexit, they are a laughing stock, a disgrace to their citizens.

Well here we go again. Watching news tonight. Prisoners getting surgery before the public waiting for the same. I commented on this before. Rob a bank and if you get away with it you will have the money to get your surgery. If caught get a 4 star hotel room we refer to as jail and get your medical needs attended to before the honest taxpayers. The system stinks. E T, Robina What an absolute disgrace and embarrassment! How could the LNP think that giving we poor pensioners a ‘gigantic’ one-off payment of $75 assist in their endeavour to regain power? Please excuse me from being so gullible. Big Mick.

To the delusionally uninformed Labor supporter blaming LNP for miners unemployment read the GCB or visit the internet and then tell us truth. Labor is in power and closes mines and blocks new ones. Exocet.

EV’s huge batteries last 5 to 10 years. Where & how do we dispose of it? We’re just pushing the pollution line 2 steps further along. Marco Polo

I only have two wishes ... for Clive Palmer and Eddie McGuire to go away. TJ
