Currie faces new charges
AS Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie gears up for another tilt at his home town’s biggest meeting on Saturday, stewards have hit him with a third wave of charges, again alleging the use of a jigger.
The latest two charges, issued this week, bring the total against the trainer to 37, which are separate to four swab irregularities his stable also has to answer to.
It is believed the charges issued this week emanated from text messages recovered from his phone as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal granted a new stay yesterday.
