OUTSIDER CALDWELL CAN’T LOSE

WHY did Cameron Caldwell, council’s influential planning committee chairman and potential future mayoral candidate, put his hand up for Moncrieff?

This is the question being asked by Gold Coast LNP members. Councillor Caldwell’s base is north of the federal electorate. He will enter a preselection race against strong female candidates for a party that will be criticised for appointing a bloke.

The answer is this will not hurt his profile, either to run in the future when Stuart Robert vacates his Fadden seat or for mayor after Tom Tate retires.
