LETTER OF THE WEEK
Have strong opinions, write in an engaging way? You could win our Letter of the Week, and with it a book from our friends and sponsors, the publishers Harper Collins. This month’s book prize is In a Great Southern Land by Mary-Anne O’Connor. It’s 1851 in the new colonies and Eve Richards and Kieran Clancy face the decision of a lifetime: whether or not, when it comes to love, will blood remain thicker than water.
I HOPE that all Labor supporters and people who are unsure of who to vote for at the upcoming election read this letter.
You may not like the leader’s personality.
Look at the policies and Budget they present.
The Labor party if elected will increase tax, make you buy an electric car and bring in death duty and also with their policies, as shown in the past, put us in the red.
It is only with a Liberal leadership that the country can run efficiently.
When John Howard was in power we were in the black and whatever was in the bank was spent by Labor. This is the history.
Australians, think before you vote. Shorten represents the unions and all they do is strike.
Australians, think of the future for yourself and kids.
Oh and by the way Shorten is going to open the waters for illegal boat people, who will get Medicare, accommodation and our jobs.
My family were immigrants and we had to come through the legal way – sponsorship, medical, and to have a job waiting.
That was under the leadership of one of the greatest Liberal leaders, John Menzies.

ANOTHER ex-army officer wishes to go into politics – this time in dear old Moncrieff.
Most army officers kind of know when they are unlikely to be promoted more than, to, say, lieutenant colonel, and get out.
The recommendation from the Surfers Paradise RSL can be taken with a pinch of salt as it has no value.
Moncrieff is in dire need of a decent and capable woman at this time, not another superannuated/ obsolete army major.

RE: Miami Angry, Chatroom (GCB, 4/4).
Argh yes, peddle the Labor/Greens “what if you’re wrong” line as it has all of the emotiveness required to fool the uninformed.
Trouble is people aren’t as dumb or as gullible as the Labor/Green party want them to be.
The truth is coming out and they don’t like it one bit. Polar ice is expanding. Sea levels are dropping. Island countries aren’t drowning. And speaking of polar – polar bear numbers have doubled since Al Gore’s scare campaign.

MARK Bailey, the Queensland Main Roads Minister, tells a good story.
The Queensland Government, because of very poor management, can’t match the Federal Government money for roadworks.
Maybe it can in three or four years but let’s hope they are long gone by then.
ROD WATSON, SURFERS PARADISE
IS anyone else tired of the whingeing being constantly uttered from the lips of our Premier and her Deputy?
Queensland is close to broke and no amount of Federal money
will pull the state out of the red.
(GCB, Apr 4).
It would not matter to these two how much LNP funding they are promised as they would never be satisfied.
Labor has mismanaged income from the resources boom because novices are at the helm with no clear destination in sight.
Why would the LNP promise money that would be mismanaged and wasted?

CROSS at being double crossed re: Cross River Rail Project?
Why is Queensland sidelined by the Commonwealth?
Queensland state pays for all of this much-needed Cross River Rail Project, while sitting Commonwealth Government members sit on their hands and allow southern states to get Commonwealth mega funding for their crucial projects.
Obviously election time is time to shunt a few do-nothing Commonwealth politicians, who have not already joined the recent hasty pre-election pension paid exit, off the main track and give engine room for projects like this which really help the community of our mega-polis.

WELL done Gold Coast Bulletin for highlighting Steph Gilmore and Ash Barty – two wonderful young people, on top of their games and on top of the world. Keep celebrating these elite individuals.
