NATIONAL TITLE WIN GIVES LUCIA A REAL LIFT

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

SHE’S already been named Australia’s strongest woman but Lucia Delle Noci is hungry for more.

Last month the competitive strongwoman came ninth out of 17 of the world’s strongest women at the prestigious Arnold World Championships in Ohio in the US.

Two weeks later, she won the Australian Arnold Championship in the middleweight division for the second time in as many years.

While there she broke a national atlas stone record by lifting 140kg – two kilos more than the 138kg she lifted just 10 minutes earlier to win the competition.

The win also meant she received her pro card and can now compete professionally against the best pro strongwomen in the world in March at the Arnold’s.

And in June, she is set to enter the Static Monsters World Championship to compete in the log press and axle dead lifts.

“I held the log record at 90kg, but it was broken by 5kg recently so I’m hoping to get 100kg to get my record back... which will be the most a female has lifted,” she said. “I just love feeling strong. “I want to be the best that I can be. If I’m not doing the work someone else will, so if I want to do that I have to keep showing up. I want to go far.”

She will also defend her title as Australia’s Strongest Woman later this year.

Ms Delle Noci said she trained at the gym four to five times a week for lifting and once a week for conditioning.
