IN response to the letter by Sally Spain (GCB, 4/4).

I am confused why the president of Wild Life Queensland, a person who has been a Greens candidate on numerous occasions, would suddenly divert her comments from environmental issues to transport issues involving Brisbane?

Is this confirmation that the Queensland Greens are simply members of the ALP in disguise? And that the Greens on the Gold Coast in reality have no interest in the Gold Coast and are simply here to support the ALP-led State Government who are in support of Bill Shorten who has proven he could not care less about the population of the Gold Coast by failing to provide any funds for the M1, by failing to confirm any money for the light rail in his budget reply, who has failed to give any money to us to improve Gold Coast hospitals or Schools.

Hey Sally, I am a Brisbane-born boy, the cross river rail tunnel by the State Government is a waste of public money, we have a rail crossing in Brisbane called the Merrivale Bridge, it could be duplicated for the addition of extra tracks for one tenth the cost of the tunnel and would be completed in half the time.

Face facts, our rail services will not improve with this addition, it will not save us 15 minutes travel when the usual problem from Brisbane to the Gold Coast is failures in the rail system that hold up trains by an hour.

If Bill Shorten is so good in your eyes why hasn’t he promised to put up 80 per cent of the cost of the cross river rail as is expected by Queensland ALP Minister for Transport Mark Bailey.

I offer this advice to the Gold Coast community, Sally Spain is the most well-known member of the Qld Greens on the Gold Coast.

Her obvious support for the ALP in Queensland should leave no doubts in our minds, a vote for the Greens is just a vote for the ALP who have no interest in our Gold Coast.

RON NIGHTINGALE, BIGGERA WATERS

WHY is it that having been centreright on most issues during my 50plus voting years, l cannot abide the obvious snake-oil Scott Morrison continually peddles, and while treating us like mugs?

When he speaks on any subject, for me it has an annoyance factor of 10/10.

DAVID HALL, COOMBABAH

I HAD to read the comments by Sheelagh Story (GCB, 6/4) four times to confirm where she was coming from.

I like to give people the benefit of doubt or as some may put it, the presumption of innocence. My apologies if I have incorrectly interpreted Sheelagh’s position as quiet the opposite.

Whether the subject person be Mayor Tom Tate, to whom she refers, or my next-door neighbour, being investigated by any legal authority, especially the CCC does not, nor should not imply guilt.

The Mayor’s comments with regards to the ongoing CCC investigation, no matter how colourfully expressed is his right to claim his innocence.

As I recall, he also used the term “justice delayed is justice denied”. He, as would my neighbour under the same circumstances, makes a valid point.

I can think of many reasons why anyone in the Mayor’s position would want the matter resolved. The stress, the damage from those who presume your guilt and the questioning of your decisions and motivation are some of them.

BOB JANSSEN, GOLD COAST

THE much talked about ocean walkway will go a long way towards solving the Hedges Ave cyclist and pedestrian problems (GCB, 6/4).

Add to this what it will do for tourists makes it a must.

Come on Tom build it please.

ROD WATSON, SURFERS PARADISE

GREENIES who bang on about a “transition to renewables” are just plain wrong.

Humans have never “transitioned” from one energy source to another.

We started by burning sticks and we still burn sticks.

As we discover new fuel sources we simply add them to our energy portfolio.

If it was really about CO2 the global warmunists would be demanding nuclear. They’re not.

The fake “climate emergency” has always been a global-socialist power-grab.

Think carefully when you vote. The climate isn’t at risk, but your health, wealth and freedom sure are.

PETER CAMPION

I AM writing this letter to publicly express my sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses – all the medical staff at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

I underwent an operation and had an overnight stay in the C2 West Surgical Ward recently.

I received the utmost quality of care and treatment in that ward.

I do not believe I could not have received any better treatment at any other hospital in the world.

Thank you Gold Coast University Hospital.
