■ Spanish Hurricane (Race 6) The punters who took the short odds about Spanish Hurricane ($2.70) would have been going for a double scotch at the 600m mark when the favourite was last of the 10 runners but champagne was soon ordered as the Matt Dunn-trained four-yearold swept to the front and went on to record a long neck win. ■ Spirit Of Cherokee (Race 1) Punters who dived into the short odds about Spirit Of Cherokee ($2.40) knew they had done their money a long way from home when Anthony Allen had trouble settling the threeyear-old in the early and middle stages. Spirit Of Cherokee was pushed wide on the home turn but was never a winning chance.
■ Godfather’s Girl (Race 7) Godfather’s Girl ($3.60 favourite) was always well back and was never a winning chance.
■ Calzini (Race 8)
Favourite backers thought they were going home with the cash but as soon as Calzini ($1.85 favourite) hit the front he blew a tyre and the second pick Comic Story ($4.20) found another gear and went on to win. NEXT TIME
■ Mufasta (Race 5)
The Barry Baldwin-trained Mufasta is getting better with racing and indicated that he will not be a maiden for very long with a solid second to tearaway leader Pumps in the 1400m Maiden Handicap.
