Back in winners’ circle

SOUTHPORT snapped their three-game losing streak in style on Saturday with a resounding 4-1 Brisbane Women’s Premier League win over Virginia United.

Desperate to arrest a form slide that had seen them fall to The Lakes, University of Queensland and Annerley, Southport picked up their second victory of the season at Ashmore Village Park. Their next game is on April 27 against Gold Coast rivals Coomera, who continued their strong run of form with a 2-0 triumph away to Ipswich City.

After back-to-back losses to start the season, the Colts have now gone four games unbeaten. “We dominated them,” coach Archy Kahondo said.

“We had 20-plus shots but couldn’t convert them all. But we are on the right track.”

But the news was not so good for Robina City, who fell 3-1 at home to University of Queensland yesterday.
