Gold Coast Harry Potter fans are in for a treat during the school holidays

- ALEXANDRA BERNARD alexandra.bernard@news.com.au

GOLD Coast shopping centres are keeping the kids entertained these school holidays.

Wands at the ready – children can channel their inner Harry Potter at Robina Town Centre’s School of Wizardry.

The space outside Myer will be transformed into a scene straight out of a fantasy novel with bookcases teeming with spell books, a twisting staircase and shelves lined with potions, beacons and bottles.

Magic shows will be held twice a day for the first week of the holidays.

Aspiring witches and wizards can then try their hand at wandmaking, potion-brewing, spellcasting, slime-making and cupcake-baking. The workshops will run on various days in the second week of the holidays and are aimed at children aged 5 to 14.

Prizes for best-dressed are up for grabs. Tickets are $10 for workshops and magic shows and $5 for cupcake-baking and are available through EventBrite.

At Pacific Fair creativity is in the spotlight with a free Art Academy. Kids can get arty and make cardboard cactus gardens, tube monsters, pompom ice cream cones and paper dream catchers. There will also be giant colouring-in walls for kids to go crazy. Bookings are not required.
