HIT ACTIVISTS WITH THE LAW

-

The animal protest movement that is gathering steam and ramping up in rural areas has shown it is seriously misguided from the start.

One of the initial acts was to disrupt the shows at Gold Coast theme park Sea World in protest at mammals and sea life in captivity.

Never mind that Sea World boasts some of the leading experts in particular marine fields and is among those first called on to help with recovery operations when incidents such as a whale breaching on the beachfront occurs.

Similarly, Dreamworld’s tiger cubs program is one of the leading donors to antipoaching work internationally.

The movement has now moved en masse to targeting the hardworking farmers of this state and country, disrupting them on their own land.

Disturbing footage emerged yesterday of a farm in Warwick under siege by these supposed do-gooder activists appearing to scare cattle so badly the poor livestock were jumping through fences and in several cases falling over and potentially injuring themselves.

Meanwhile, somehow the owners of the land remained calmly nearby politely requesting the mob stop getting so close because it was scaring the animals and resulting in the drama.

Ever heard of the phrase doing more harm than good? This lot seems to fit the bill perfectly.

They are worried about captivity and slaughter.

Never mind one of the operations they hit yesterday was a dairy farm where the cows lead a rather leisurely existence in between being milked.

The Bulletin has today revealed among the protesters’ number is a Gold Coast woman crowd-funding to pay the fines she has amassed from various activist escapades.

The latest en masse sit-ins on farms which yesterday led to the farcical situation at one where the “release of three lambs were negotiated for protesters to depart (goodness knows how they are now caring for the trio) are doing more harm than good.

Tempers are also going to be getting frayed at the harassment being experienced by people who are working the land and have been doing it tough for some time now in many areas.

This kind of headache is the last thing they need.

The action is really no different to a farmer breaking into a city dweller’s home or apartment.

The misguided people behind this disruption should face the full extent of the law for their actions.
