Blackout compo finally ‘in the mail’

-

ENERGEX customers are finally seeing compensation, months after storms left their homes without power for days before Christmas.

Power outages in December meant some households lost food slated for Christmas celebrations.

At the time Energex described the storm damage as the worst the city had seen in “a long time”.

Energex pledged to refund hundreds of households $114 if they were without electricity for more than 18 hours as part of the company’s guaranteed service levels (GSL).

Four months on, residents in the Hinterland, Mudgeeraba, Tallebudgera and Tallai confirmed cheques had finally arrived in the mail last week.

An Energex spokesman said it may take some time for all to arrive. “If a customer has not received their cheque by the end of this month call 131 253, ” they said.
