MIAMI’S TV BIG BREAK
MIAMI beach has been transformed by a bit of Hollywood magic this week as an international television show takes over the beachfront.
French-American crime drama show Reef Break has been shooting on the Coast for the past couple of months and locals were abuzz when production set up in Miami to shoot yesterday.
The beach has been transformed into the backdrop for a fake surfing competition – the Empire Pro – much like the Quiksilver Pro that has just been staged down the road at Snapper Rocks.
The crowds of extras were so believable many locals took to social media to ask if a second surf event was happening on the Coast.
Reef Break features former Without a Trace star Poppy Montgomery, who also executive produces the show.
The 13-episode series is set to air next year starring Montgomery as Cat Chambers, a former thief who becomes a “fixer” for the governor of a fictional island.
The project has injected around $41 million into the Queensland economy.
