Telstra elevates Brady to CFO role

- SUPRATIM ADHIKARI

TELSTRA has promoted its head of consumer services, Vicki Brady, to take over as the telco’s chief financial officer and head of strategy.

Ms Brady, a former Optus executive, will take over from Robyn Denholm, who replaced Elon Musk as the chair of electric car maker Tesla last November.

Ms Denholm, who has been on Tesla’s board since 2014, had committed to juggling both roles until May.

Ms Brady will start her new role on July 1, with acting group executive Michael Ackland to lead the consumer and small business function full time.

Telstra boss Andrew Penn said Ms Brady’s appointment highlighted the bench strength of the telco’s executive team.

“I am very pleased to have Vicki in the CFO role,” he said yesterday.

“She is an experienced executive leader, with strong achievements in telecommunications, alongside a sound financial background.”

Ms Brady joined Telstra in 2016, having missed out on the chief executive role at Optus.

She was appointed the head of Telstra’s consumer business in 2017 and is one of the architects of the telco’s T22 strategic plan which will see it significantly change its plans to consumers.
