Stop complaining and give Queensland your solutions

- KAREN FECHNER, SOUTHPORT

YET again Ros Bates, you are attacking the Government with what they should be doing. Please tell us, what you and your party would do to fix the problem, bearing in mind that the Liberals and Nationals and Labor have all had a go at running Queensland, with very little change, if any.

Ramping at hospitals has been an issue for many, many years. Emergency departments have always been overflowing as patients will not go to their doctors as they may be charged for a visit.

There are never enough doctors and nurses, or even enough beds for patients.

When was the last time we built a new hospital? Yes, we replaced the old one, but we have two hospitals, one on the northern end and one towards the southern end of the Gold Coast, and I am talking about public hospitals. Gold Coast now has a population of 600,000 people, not including the northern end of NSW, a growth which has staggered even our local politicians.

So we keep keep building highrise, but not bothering to establish the infrastructure to cater for the growth.

Every politician has a wish list to improve our State, but unfortunately there are very few results, just ongoing bandaid fixes.

Take the M1 for instance. When it was first decided, “yes, an eight-lane highway would solve the problem” ... but by the time it was completed, the population had grown at such a rate of knots, which in turn proved that it was not going to be suffiicient enough to carry the amount of traffic that we have now.

Sick and tired of listening to complaints, let’s find solutions.
