The latest Ethical Fashion Report graded 130 companies representing 480 brands from A+ to F. It assessed companies’ systems to mitigate against the risks of forced labour, child labour and exploitation in their supply chains.

This year, the report also took into account companies’ efforts to reduce their environmental impact. Outland Denim chief executive and founder James Bartle said he and his team were proud to have received the A+ grading.

He said it was recognition of their supply-chain transparency and social mission to provide training and work for the vulnerable, as well as their environmental initiatives.

“In our experience, social and environmental sustainability initiatives need to go hand-in-hand to solve the global issues which the fashion industry contributes to,” he said.

“It’s a human rights issue that vulnerable people are often the most exposed to the negative impacts of fashion’s environmental negligence.”
