Welch on Origin radar

JESSE Bromwich says Christian Welch is ready to be the next Storm player to successfully bolster the Queensland Origin team.

Since 2017, three Storm players have been blooded by Queensland – Felise Kaufusi (2018) and Cameron Munster and Tim Glasby (both 2017).

Welch, who made his NRL debut in mid-2015, has started the season effectively in a Storm team who clash with a North Queensland pack boasting five Test or Origin forwards in Townsville tomorrow night.

The 24-year-old Easts Tigers junior is laying out a strong case for selection as a middle forward coming off the bench.

“He’s someone I think will be able to play Origin this year if he does the right things,” said Melbourne’s New Zealand Test prop Bromwich.
