HEMSWORTH CAME BACK FOR MORE

- AMBER MACPHERSON

WHEN return customers are Hollywood stars, it’s hard not to get a little ego boost.

As Broadbeach’s Nineteen at the Star celebrates turning one tonight with a lavish party, executive chef Kelvin Andrews reflects on many highlights: “Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth both had a really good meal and came back the next day for lunch.

“Highlights have been the celebrities. Elsa Pataky, we’ve had famous singers, Usain Bolt. Johnathan Thurston had a whole wagyu steak on his own.

“We’ve achieved a lot in the last 12 months.

“For a restaurant to be open for a year and be in the Top 100 of Gourmet Traveller and named best regional restaurant in Queensland, that’s amazing.

“Our restaurant is focused on sustainability and ethical farming. We’re using a lot more local producers and suppliers and reducing our carbon footprint.

“In the next 12 months we want to start focusing more on the woodfire grill-style restaurant, making it a more approachable kind of luxury,” he said.

A menu relaunch is two months off.
