Coast teams into semis, set sail for rep deciders

UNDER-16 STATE CHAMPS

Gold Coast teams are doing very well at the under-16 state boys and girls championsh­ips in Logan and Mt Gravatt.

In the three divisions Gold Coast teams has many sides making it through to the semifinals being held today.

Impressive­ly two Coast teams through to girls Division 1 semis and also a team in the second division semi-final.

The incredible Gold Coast Waves team hasn’t had anyone get closer than 35 points throughout this season.

As for the boys, the Waves are through to the semi-finals undefeated, while the Breakers have also been playing in the first division and have won two pool games to show their quality. In Division 2, the North Gold Coast Seahawks have impressed and in Division 3 the Rollers are five from five and are through to the playoffs.

Division 1

■ Girls: North Gold Coast Seahawks v South West Pirates 11am, Gold Coast Waves v Mackay 12.30pm

■ Boys: Gold Coast Waves v Townsville 2.00pm

Division 2

■ Girls: Gold Coast Breakers v Northside Wizards 2pm

Division 3

■ Boys: Gold Coast Rollers v Northside 2 12.30pm.

60 YEARS OF COAST HOOPS

Next Thursday will see Gold Coast Basketball celebrate 60 years and the nostalgia will be running high with a treasure trove of sports memorabili­a on offer for fans.

Those who loved the Gold Coast Blaze or Rollers will love the trip down memory lane at Carrara Indoor Stadium.

Life members and legends of the game will be there to toast 60 years and also to launch the QBL Cross Promotions Rollers for season 2019. It’s free entry for all from 6.30pm to 9pm.
