Tomic out of champs

BERNARD Tomic has been sent crashing out of the US Clay Court Championships in Houston, losing his secondround clash 6-1, 6-2 to Spain’s Marcel Granollers.

Granollers, who is ranked 112th, dispatched Gold Coast’s world No.79 in just 47 minutes.

On his least favoured surface, Tomic struggled throughout, winning points on just 54 per cent of his serves and failing to produce a single ace.

Australia’s Jordan Thompson was due to play his thirdround match against the topseeded American Steve Johnson overnight.
