The club built Brick by Brick

-

WHEN Zac Coote takes the field for the inaugural Robina Roos Colts side tomorrow, another chapter will be added to an extraordinary family history at the club.

Grandparents Les and Glenda Brick will witness the 16-year-old play at the club they created in 1996.

The 193cm utility will don the No.11 jersey his uncle Matthew “Spook” Brick wore to notch up a record 417 games for the club.

Zac’s parents – team manager Jacqui and former Roo Jason “Noddy” Coote – will battle nerves from the sidelines at the Roo Pen, where they met in 2000.

And joining them at the QFA Colts White Round 2 clash with Beenleigh will be Zac’s brother and backline player Noah, who is eager for his 15th birthday in July when he will be eligible to join Zac to continue the family tradition.

Jacqui said it was “very special” to be team manager for the Colts’ first season.

Her mother Glenda was also excited about the Colts, adding she hoped a junior Roos program would follow.

“It’s wonderful that Zac and Noah are playing for the Roos – it makes us feel that all the hard work was well worth it,” she said.

Les, Glenda and their children Jacqui, Matthew, Nicole and Danielle are all life members of the club.

In Round 4 of the QFA Division 2 men’s competition tomorrow, Robina will meet Beenleigh, with the reserves to play at noon and the seniors at 2pm.
