DRESSED TO THE NINETEENS

- RYAN KEEN

THEY are the hospitality dream team glamming up this town – and reckon one year into their new rooftop bar venture with Star casino that it’s prompting Gold Coast blokes to dress better.

Nineteen at the Star partners Jackie and Billy Cross hosted the venue’s first birthday soiree on Friday alongside fellow partner and restaurateur Simon Gloftis.

It attracted a smart-looking crowd and Mr Cross said Nineteen was part of the Gold Coast’s evolution into a more sophisticated, multi-layered city.

“One thing personally that I love – and I’ve been on the Gold Coast for so long – is the girls whereever they go, always look nice, always dress up, they always take the time.

“The guys sometimes don’t,” he said. “But watching guys turn up here in a collared shirt, a blazer, nice shoes, they are going that extra mile to look good.

“As an operator, seeing people go to that extra effort to come out, it really shows you have created something amazing and people are really embracing it,” Mr Cross said.

Among attendees were Miss Universe Queensland Johanna Holzmann and Gold Coast Titans after their nail-biting 30-24 win against the Panthers.
