‘Cagey’ but successful

-

SURFERS Paradise have progressed through to the fifth round of the FFA Cup after a convincing 6-1 win over Sunshine Coast Premier League side Maroochydore FC.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Apollo with the home side only up 2-1 at the half before the Premier League side took their chances after the break to run away with the win.

“We played well but we were a bit cagey for a while there,” said coach Alex Morrison.

“We’ve been in good form and we took it into the cup.”

Despite looking well placed to contend for a championship in the Gold Coast Premier League with three wins in the opening five rounds, Morrison said that FFA Cup success was equally significant.

“They’re both just as important as each other,” he said.

“It’s always great to have a good cup run because it builds excitement at the club.”

Surfers have a break this weekend before facing Coomera on April 27.
