WALLACE SHOULDER CHARGE IS SOUR NOTE FROM WIN

- CONNOR O’BRIEN connor.obrien@news.com.au

THE Titans have been granted extra time to mull over what action to take after Jarrod Wallace was charged by the match review panel.

The Gold Coast and Queensland front-rower is facing a suspension of up to three weeks for his shoulder charge on Panthers fullback Dallin Watene-Zelezniak on Friday night at Cbus Super Stadium, which sparked an all-in push and shove.

It was the one major blemish on a strong night for Wallace as his side chalked up their first win of the year. But it could prove costly as the 27year-old was slapped with a grade one shoulder charge.

With loading applied due to Wallace having prior offences, an early guilty plea

would sideline him for two weeks and leave 55 carryover points hanging over his head.

If the Titans unsuccessfully contest the charge, the punishment will be increased to three weeks plus 40 carryover points.

Given Gold Coast have a nine-day turnaround before their Round 6 home game against Newcastle on Sunday, the club requested an additional day to plot their course of action.

They will now have to make a decision and enter a plea this morning.

Hooker Mitch Rein was also charged with a grade one dangerous throw on Penrith halfback Nathan Cleary but can escape suspension with an early guilty plea.
