Woman had $2400 of cocaine

- LEA EMERY

A REAL estate worker caught with $2400 worth of cocaine told police she had given seven friends some of the drug the night before.

The admission by Dominee Maree Carroll, 35, landed her in Southport District Court yesterday where she pleaded guilty to supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing property suspended to being used in the proceeds in relation to drugs.

Carroll, a former St Hilda’s student, cried as Judge David Kent sentenced her to 18 months prison with immediate release on parole. “You had a significant amount of cocaine that had been given to you and you had a number of friends over the night before that shared the drug,” he said.

Mr Kent said the amount of cocaine made it reasonable to conclude Carroll had planned to sell the drug.

Prosecutor Denise Darwen told the court police raided Carroll’s home on December 7, 2017 and found 5.5g of cocaine – 1.175g of which was pure cocaine. Police found $300 cash in her house as well as messages on her phone talking about $2400 in cocaine.
