Police check forger guilty
AN ADELAIDE man who held an official at knifepoint in a court siege almost 20 years ago has asked to be spared jail for faking a police check.
Wayne Noel Maddeford, 51, says he had no choice but to give the fake police certificate to two separate employers in 2014 and 2015.
Defence counsel Eugene McGee said: “If he produced the certificate unaltered, he would lose his employment.”
Mr McGee asked Judge Julie McIntyre to hand Maddeford a bond instead of jail time. He will be sentenced this week.
