NT politicians in pay freeze
THE Northern Territory Government will freeze the pay of politicians and public sector executives for three years to help fix its ailing budget.
The Government says the measure will save $25 million and is part of a wider suite of initiatives to fix the finances.
“We will deliver a plan to fix the budget so we can continue investing in jobs, generational change and cutting crime,” Chief Minister Michael Gunner said yesterday.
“It’s only fair that heavy lifting is also done by freezing politicians’ and executive pay.”
A review examining the NT’s budget issues will be released today.
