FIVE OF THE BEST EASTER EGG HUNTS

Sometimes you have to work for chocolate and that makes it even tastier, writes

TOPGOLF CNR ROADSHOW WAY AND ENTERTAINMENT DRIVE, OXENFORD An Easter egg hunt at Topgolf might sound perilous but rest assured, the sweet treats will not be hidden on the driving range. “We’re all about safety first — it will be in the indoor sections of the venue,” marketing manager Karla Judge says. From Easter Friday to Monday, Topgolf welcomes children to search for chocolate eggs every morning at 9am as part of the theme park’s school holiday fun program. Everyone is welcome to visit the venue and take part.

HUNT FOR A CURE MUDGEERABA SHOWGROUNDS

Before signing the little ones up to Mudgeeraba’s Hunt For A Cure, make sure they know the paddle-pop sticks they find aren’t a cruel prank — they’re to be traded in for Easter eggs. “We don’t hide the Easter eggs themselves, otherwise the ants get them and they melt in the sun,” organiser Braden Lamb says. On Easter Saturday, this event is a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and requires a $5 donation for every child. Registrations open at 8.30am, with the hunt at 9.30am, followed by free pony rides, a jumping castle and face painting until midday.

BBQ BAZAAR 18 JUNCTION RD, BURLEIGH

The Burleigh night market puts a twist on its inaugural Easter egg hunt on Saturday from 4pm. Children will be given a map and will hunt for clues at different vendors, collecting chocolate and the next hint until they’ve completed the quest. There’s no registration required, but a picture on social media will ensure your child goes home with more than they bargained for at the end of the night. “We’re hoping parents will post a photo on social media and their kids will get a larger Easter bunny or Easter egg,” BBQ Bazaar director Michael Salay says.

THE BAVARIAN

5 ORACLE BOULEVARD, BROADBEACH It’s Easter Sunday the German way at Broadbeach’s The Bavarian, with an Easter egg hunt taking place throughout the restaurant from 1pm. Area manager Zoe Sepesiova says she’s expecting an entertaining day for adults and children. “Our team will be the Easter Bunny’s helpers for the day and will scatter hundreds of mini Easter eggs for the children to find,” Zoe says.

BSKT CAFE

4 LAVARACK RD, MERMAID

A healthy Easter egg hunt would be a wise choice but BSKT owner Sel Berdie knows that’s not quite reasonable when there’s excited children

involved. So his cafe is mixing up the treasure with vegan, sugar-free BSKT chocolate and crowd-pleasing, storebought eggs. “We think of it as a nice dark chocolate, but kids might not like it,” Sel says. “So we’ll have our BSKT chocolate and other chocolate.” The hunt will start in the children’s playground at 9.30am and is free for families dining at the cafe.
