COOMERA BOOMS

THE Gold Coast grows apace and nowhere is that more evident than in the booming northern corridor.

It is sparking much-needed commercial development to keep pace with the increasing population.

The latest proposal to help service the burgeoning community at Coomera is a 57,000sq m super centre retain hub to be known as CHIC, or the Coomera Home Idea Centre.

The centre, as revealed in today’s Bulletin is up for consideration from the Gold Coast City Council.

But at first blush the new proposal, tipped to pump tens of millions into the economy and create hundreds of jobs in construction and ongoing after completion, is just the kind of addition required at the thriving retail and business precinct.

There is no doubt the Gold Coast and Coomera’s soaring growth in population creates issues that need to be kept on top of from congestion to services required to ensure ongoing liveability and quality of life.

But these are good problems to have and much preferred to the alternative.
