Lagat locked for marathon

FIVE-TIME Olympian Bernard Lagat is looking to return to the marathon distance for the Gold Coast Marathon on July 6-7.

Renowned for his 1500m, 3000m and 5000m track performances, Lagat made his marathon debut at the New York City Marathon last year and will revisit the distance on the Gold Coast.

Australia holds a special place for Kenyan-born Lagat, as Sydney 2000 was his first Olympic appeareance – the 44-year-old has made four since.
