Retreat a hit with stars
Currumbin escape on the market
A RAINFOREST retreat that has hosted celebrities and been Currumbin’s most sought-after holiday home has hit the market.
Rock star Sting called it “peaceful, beautiful and inspiring” while a French actress working on a “difficult” film on the Coast wrote in the guest book, “even in hell you can sometimes find heaven”.
The picturesque property with impressive views at 23A Katta Ave fetched up to $1000 a night during peak season and has been the highest rented Stayz holiday house in Currumbin for 15 years.
LJ Hooker Palm Beach agent Rob Cinelli, who is marketing the property with Leanne Frohmuller, said the owners had a guest book signed by a myriad of personalities.
“The sellers (say) Sting has stayed there and he enjoyed doing his pilates in the property and truly found it a peaceful and inspiring home,” Mr Cinelli said. “It’s actually won awards from the accommodation channels for the highest number of continuous bookings.
“It is one of those properties that is highly desirable – it’s a statement home bounded by so much greenery and blue ocean.”
The three-bedroom house was built in 2004 with a design by architect Shane Denman that blends into the lush rainforest of the exclusive Currumbin Hill.
It was the winner of the 2006 RAIA Best House South East Queensland Award.
The property is on the market alongside the connected six-bedroom house at No.23, which was built in 1979 and has stayed in the one family ever since.
Owners Michael and Sally Tolerton, who have both worked in the film industry for 40 years as an art director and make-up artist, said both homes were like a treehouse.
“With both houses the views are uninterrupted,” Ms Tolerton said. “The views will never be compromised and I think there are very few places around where you can be confident of that.
“We have put no artwork on the walls because the windows are the art.”
The expressions of interest campaign for both properties closes on May 24. They can be purchased individually or as one.
