PET PROJECT PROVES A POTTY IDEA

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

WHILE most pets have four legs, whiskers and a tail, the office pets at this Bundall office are a little different.

@Workspaces, a coworking hub for a range of businesses, their pets are plants.

Managing director Mariska Folley said tenants leasing new office space from them at the Wyndham Building would be given a healthy new plant that they were expected to look after and even name and talk to.

“It may seem like a crazy thing to do but research shows that plants grow team morale and an increased sense of workplace calm,” she said.

Ms Folley said the pet plants were one way of ensuring those within the office were more productive and that there would be higher levels of staff retention and job satisfaction.

She said they would be holding a creative name competition as the first tenants rolled in next week.

“We’ve been looking at ways to make the work space more environmentally friendly,” she said.

“The staff are all on board and it will help with that community feel.”

The office still has spaces available for lease.
