RICARDO LIVING UP TO NO.1 STATUS
GOLD Coast junior Maddison Ricardo will today aim to live up to her No.1 billing by claiming the Brisbane Age title.
Another product of the powerful KDV Sports program at Carrara, Ricardo yesterday outlasted third seed Lily Taylor 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 in their under-14 semi-final showdown at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
The result pits Ricardo into a decider against unseeded Allya Nguyen, with the match to start today at 9am.
In the under-14 consolation competition, Julia Pisa (KDV Sports) plays Alexis Melov (North Brisbane) in the final.
The under-12 main draw sees the two top seeds up against each other, with Carrara’s Emerson Jones (2) playing Tahlia Kokkinis (1).
Jones yesterday defeated fifth seed Jovana Petrovic 6-1, 6-2.
Max Hein won over Thomas Gadecki in the under-14 boys playoff for positions 5-8, with 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory.
