I suppose that not electioneering on Easter Sunday by either party, the Australian taxpayers have saved several billion in spending promises. Am I being cynical? You bet. GT

I can only suppose all of the cars being driven around by these Adani protesters, are running on fresh air and sunshine?

Since Bob Brown was victorious in stopping the Franklin Dam in Tasmania in the 80s, subsequent govts on all levels have been reluctant to build any dams in this country, much to the anger and frustration of our now droughtstricken farmers. If naive Brown is again successful and stops the Adani coal mine, this will be a benchmark used by anti-mining, greenie urban judiciary, to knock back future coal mines from being opened.

To Oigle of Coomera. Aren’t large freight trains diesel? Electric trains are restricted to inter and intra city passenger duties. If you actually know of electric freight trains in Australia please specify. Qizzbird

About time Jetstar got their act together. Cancelled our flight to Japan til the following day. Lousy food. Then cancelled again when got to airport coming back but no notice. Went 2 trains to Airport only to be told not going till next day. Hotel overnight. On plane next day, no food for us, cup coffee. Never fly Jetstar again. So say others on flight. M

I work for the biggest not for profit aged care company in Queensland. We currently employ 6500 aged carers of which 90 per cent are permanent part-time or casual. The current pay rate is $24.46hr. Most of our carers can only get 30hrs work a week. It is reported by the Govt the average wage is well over 80,000 per yr which equates to approx 40hr so there must be a lot of people earning more than us on the Gold Coast. Who are these people and why are aged care workers not worth 40hr looking after our most vulnerable?

The green candidate is posting all her signs on wooden stakes in the ground. I thought they were all for preserving nature. Lost my vote. Hypocrites all of them. Lee

What an incredible woman you are Dani Larkin. The Interview, Saturday Bulletin. Fan F

Pollies saying they will put back loading on holiday & weekend work, employers will only pass it on to consumers. How about making overtime, weekend work, workers

giving up holidays to work, tax free making it worth their while to them, not to help your excessive pay & perks.

Another hungry dingo attack on Fraser Island, isn’t it about time we got rid of these pests, the tourists that is. Woodleigh

If what Bill Shorten is saying ... workers are not getting paid penalties on public holidays, why are we paying extra for coffees and food reason being having to pay penalties on public holidays. Are we being ripped off again? An excuse to make more money for the services? Another scam or doesn’t Bill Shorten have a clue once again?

BM Southport I am so looking forward to your prediction eventuating. Soooo many committees & conferences and meetings lasting months and longer just to decide how many more in functional public servants to employ. Joyous times ahead.

To Rod from Elanora. As far as I am aware (and I am close to the action and pretty sure) Campbell Newman did not sack any nurses, doctors or fireman. He cleaned out a lot of non-productive public servants but no front-line staff. Quizzbird

You have to wonder if anybody actually takes any notice of those annoying political ads. Surely no-one can possibly believe the rubbish our desperate politicians bombard us with at every election. Sadly, the media continues to promote these attention seekers as credible options. Martin, Oxenford

I often notice ungrateful comments from a few Liberal voters condemning the Labor Party and unions. I’d like to let you know some of the benefits from Labor that we enjoy: Medicare, superannuation, 38-hour week, 4 weeks annual leave, long service leave to name a few. I bet you enjoy a number of these, show your appreciation and avoid being Good one Ma, I like the idea of concrete boots for prisoners on Norfolk Is. When can we start shipping them over? Zodiac

Enjoy Anzac Day while you can. The day will come it will be deemed politically incorrect. Progressive lefty thinking will be the ruin of our great culture. Susan

Re: Meth houses. I feel sorry for families who unknowingly move into these toxic houses. I have raised the issue with carpet retailers and real estate agents because I’m a carpet installer who has been affected more than once pulling up filthy carpets I had rashes and boils and now a cough. When is something going to be done to protect healthy innocent people trying to earn a living. LBC, Parkwood
