SURFER ELLIE’S NEW ROLE
A GOLD Coast student and professional surfer has been named global ambassador for an upcoming surf conference.
Southern Cross University student Ellie Brooks has just returned from a year travelling to Japan, Mexico, Europe and beyond as part of the Women’s Qualifying Series.
She will now be the face of the Global Wave Conference, held at the university in 2020, less than a month after scoring the coveted wildcard entry to the Boost Mobile Pro Trials.
“Everything is happening and it’s all exciting,” she said.
“I’m really honoured to be the global ambassador. It’s important as a surfer to support the cause, encourage everyone in the surfing community to get involved.”
The Global Wave Conference brings together international minds from the surfing conservation, academic and innovation communities to take on the issues facing our oceans.
Brooks, who is ranked 39th in the Women’s QS, has already joined fellow professionals and former world champion Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew for the launch on campus last month.
The Global Wave Conference will be held at Southern Cross University in February 2020.
