Broken leg after spat
AN elderly woman suffered a serious leg injury after an alleged neighbourhood dispute turned ugly.
It’s understood a long-running spat between two elderly women ended yesterday when a 66-year-old was rammed by a car inside the car park of a unit complex on Liam Court, Labrador.
It will be alleged a 65-yearold woman, driving a Toyota Corolla, hit her elderly neighbour about 10.15am, seriously injuring her leg.
Police are investigating whether the incident was intentional, with the driver taken into custody and questioned at Southport Police Station.
The car was also towed by police and will undergo a mechanical inspection, as part of their investigation.
It’s understood the two women live in the same complex and are known to each other.
Three ambulance crews rushed to the scene. The 66year-old woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, believed to be suffering a compound fracture to her lower leg.
Police have charged the 65year-old woman with one count of drive without due care and attention. She is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court on May 7. Investigations are ongoing. If you witnessed the incident or know more about it, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
