Dodgy tips uncovered

TWO dangerous and illegal waste stockpiles have been uncovered in Melbourne, with Victoria’s environmental watchdog investigating.

Stockpiles of potentially hazardous material, including flammable recycling waste, were found at sites in Derrimut and Altona in January and March this year, it’s been revealed.

“The community has a right to expect that hazardous and industrial waste is managed to a high standard that meets regulations,” an EPA spokesman said yesterday.
