RIGHT GEAR TO JUMP INTO WEDDING

-

A UNIQUE bridal jumpsuit designed and created by a Queensland TAFE student has landed a top global award.

Alyssia McDonald, 19, will be jetting to Los Angeles to accept her win at the International Design Awards this week, after her creation was recognised in the emerging designer apparel/bridal category.

Ms McDonald said she was initially hesitant about tackling a jumpsuit.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to do it, but after showing my sewing teacher my ideas she loved it and really encouraged me to try something different,” she said.

“I really love the ’90s, I really wanted to incorporate that with something more modern.”

The unusual piece includes a hand-embellished bodice adorned with Swarovski crystals, beads and sequins, which took more than 36 hours to complete.
