Slow down, Mustangs
SUPERCARS has put the brakes on the all-conquering Mustang after a controversial in-season test revealed the new Ford’s unfair speed edge.
In a decision that will put Holden back in the title fight, Supercars last night ordered Ford teams to make a series of changes that will slow down the Mustang ahead of next week’s Super Sprint in Perth.
After nine wins from 10 races with two victories at Phillip Island, the Mustang will be aerodynamically dulled to give the Commodore a chance.
“The Supercars Technical Department has analysed and evaluated information gathered from the opening four rounds of the championship in monitoring and maintaining technical parity,’’ Supercars said in a statement yesterday.
