Witts’ dominance concern for Lions

-

BRISBANE coach Chris Fagan says the AFL’s new rules have made the centre bounce pivotal in 2019.

And that’s why Suns big man Jarrod Witts’ performance will be a crucial in QClash 17.

Witts averages the most hitouts (44.4 a game) in the league so far and is ranked sixth in average hitouts to advantage (11.4).

Suns coach Stuart Dew said the decision to have Witts tap it into the middle of the contest in stages was a tactic used to lessen the strength of teams boasting bigger bodied midfields.

“We don’t want to play Russian roulette in there,” Dew said.

“It has been a bit a bit about who we are up against.

“A lot of times we have been up against really big midfields.”

Suns midfielder Touk Miller has tagged Dayne Zorko with success in recent QClashes and when Dew was asked if he would send him to the Lions captain again, he said: “I’m sure at some point they will be running next to each other.

“How often and how long we will wait and see.”
