Sibling stab threat claim
AN odd jobs worker threatened to stab his brother in the neck with a screwdriver after a spat over borrowing a car, a court has been told.
But the 22-year-old claims he never made threats and his brother only made the complaint because he was angry.
The falling out ended up in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday with the man charged with breaching a domestic violence order.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Damian Summerfield told the court the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, brandished a screw driver on Wednesday afternoon and told his brother he was going to stab him in the neck.
It is alleged the brothers, who live together, had a fight over whether the man could take the car. The man allegedly left and returned with a screwdriver. Defence lawyer Lisa Searing, of Buckland Allen Criminal Lawyers, said the man admitted to pushing his brother.
“Once he left he never returned and there was no screwdriver incident,” she said.
Magistrate Andrew Sinclair granted bail with conditions.
