Expensive run for Jag
GOLD Coast rider Jag Guthmann-Chester’s bid to win back-to-back Queensland metropolitan apprentice titles has hit a snag after he was suspended on a careless riding charge.
The title is wide open with Guthmann-Chester on 25, one in front of Baylee Nothdurft. Clayton Gallagher (18) and Jackson Murphy (17) are still in the race with three months to go.
Guthmann-Chester was suspended for eight meetings after causing interference in the fifth race at Ipswich on Thursday.
He was also fined $200 for being overweight in another race and $200 for posting material on a social media site, which in the stewards’ opinion was obscene or defamatory towards the Racing Queensland Training Department.
